When I execute a search, the icon shows activity briefly, then stops. No search results are found; no message appears. I am unable to change preferences because there is no option to change preferences on the search window.

I have Windows XP (Home). My PC does not complete the boot process. Everything appears to be going OK until just after the start screen disappears when the system reboots. I can successfully boot in safe mode with network support.

I keep being notified that I need to install certain MS updates thru auto update. I've received KB828026, KB329390, and KB826939 at least 5 times each in the last 6-7 weeks. My system says they're installed successfully
