I have recently installed Windows XP Professional into my computer.  The
computer is a P4 2.66 with 512MB RAM.
The computer is apart of a domain.
I have two  problems (Not sure if they are related).

When I start up my computer I get a blank screen and an
error message that says:  Window can not start because a
file is missing or is corrupt: <Windows root>\system32

My XP PRO is in a state in which it displays a "Stop ..." message after the progress screen clears and then re-boots.  Unfortunately, it re-boots before any other text can be read.  Is there any way to stop it before the blue screen of death disappears. THX

I went to the microsoft knowledge base article 308422 and
it is supposed to tell me how to do a backup.  It
says "click start, point to all programs, point to
accessories, point to system tools, and then click

this program keeps running on start up.  the when it's
finished, it runs all over again.  How can I stop it or
get it to complete its task properly.  I have tried
system restore and re-loading windows.  Neither helped.
