Does anyone know why the screensaver will not start on
Windows XP.  I have set it with different settings; to
start after 1 min., 5 mins., etc. but it will never come
on by itself.  I use the standard settings through right

When I left my house today, my computer was running
perfect and it was in the midst of burning a CD. When I
came back home, my computer was stuck in a faulty boot
loop. The only way I could recover, I thought, was to

When you double click on an icon, it sits there. If you
right click on the icon and choose open, it opens. Is

QUESTIONS:
1. What typically would cause the issues I describe below to happen? (Both the initial
problem of the Update freezing plus the reinstallation of a previously applied update).
2. Will I have to be concerned with these issues whenever I install a new program?  I have

i have suddenly had really slow boots.  i haven't added
any hardware, etc.  i have defraged, clean disk, stopped
services, stopped startup programs, and still slow.  I'm
running xp w/ 256mb ram, 30gig hd, 1.8gig processer.

We have a Dell at home with WinXP.  Recently it started
logging on very slowly.  We have about 4 different logons
and it happens when you click on an individual logon

My laptop runs Windows XP Home Edition Ver.2002 with

recently when family users logon welcome screen we are

settings, almost think it isn't going to bring up desktop

A registry cleaner, already in XP,  that if used in "safe mode", it will clean up the registry, but never delete a needed file or feature?

occassionaly as i'm working on the computer i notice that
it starts working on something and the cpu % rises. the
wise task manager indicates services.exe as taking my cpu
time, so i guess its one of my services doing its stuff

Have an OEM version of RealPlayer Basic installed which I want to remove completely. Program Uninstall freezes, as does XP Remove Programs utility. Unable to delete files manually either - at least not completely. Tried re-installing program from CD with no result. No practical ...
