When I try to start any program (IE, Word, Outlook, etc)
there is a long delay (1-2 minutes) before anything
happens on my system. Once in the application, everything
seems to operate fine.

I have a file in the c: directory called content.log. It's a massive 979,536KB. What is it logging? What would happen if I deleted it?

How do i clean the registry of all that junk I DON'T need
(uninstalled) and all that junk that gets in there

For some stranger reason, I no lonegr have 'System
Restore' on my computer. I have searched for it but only
the shortcut remains which doesn't take me to 'System
Restore'

When I give the command to clean-up my C-drive the CPU
immediately jumps to 100% occupied and the PC freezes.
All other applications are switched off, as is the ADSL
connection.

I'm having a strange problem with PD boot-time defragmentation.
Doing a boot-time defrag on my C: drive runs with no problems.

I have noticed on several machines that I work on, with
windows XP pro and home, are running at 99% CPU usage,
with a System Idle process of 99% too. This does not
quite add up right, as sysidle is supposed to be 100%-cpu
