Today I was prompted that there wer updates to be
downloaded/installed.  The download ran in a flash;
however, the Automatic Updates - Installation in process
window has been on my screen for more than six hours with

What is the deal with microsoft xp and the lexmark x73
printer? It either doesn't reconize its allready installed
or it deletes it.

I reinstalled Windows XP, and I am trying to install SP-
1.....
I get an error that the C: partition is too small (it is
8MB), while the D: Partition is 40GB.

minimizing as soon as they open so they are unusable.  
Switching to them with the task manager instead of alt-
tab seems to get into them but anytime they reset the

I know how to defrag a hard drive, that is basic. My
frustration is with the defragmenter of Windows XP. If I
ask a defrag prgm. to do its job I don't expect it to
quit before it has finished the job. Nor do I expect it

I am running Windows XP home edition.  I have 256 MB of
RAM and over 20 GB available of disk space.  Even if I am
only running the OS I get an error message that virtual
memory is low.  Any suggestion to my problem?

Yes, I called IBM and they had me reformat the disk and reinstall Windows XP. Nothing new for me with this routine. It has become a way of life.

This is regarding my main PC, which I've had for about 2.5 years.
From the beginning, WinXP has always needed to do CHKDSK, every 2 weeks
or so, and it often finds bad clusters and errors in the MFT. "Minor
inconsistencies" are even more frequently found. This computer never

C:\Windows\Prefetch folder? Are these files safe to
delete?

My daughter has Windows XP and her mouse is frozen. The
pointer does not move. She cleaned the mouse ball, but
that didn't help. I would appreciate some help on this.

I'd appreciate any help on this.  Windows hangs or slows at boot start
because a couple of driver fail to load.  I've re-installing the software;
updating the BIOS, but nothing works.

When i start up my pc it goes to a blue screen that reads
unmountable boot volume. So i called the help line and
they told me to download the windows xp boot disks from
the windows web site but when i try to do that i get an
