Since yesterday I have not been able to close down my
computer, except by pulling the plug.   Clicking Restart,
Standbye or Closedown has no effect.  AOL Computer Check
says the machine is in good health.

My computer repeatedly auto-downloads this update, up to

On opening task manager the different tabs at the top of
the window for processes etc are not visible, neither are
the minimize, maximise, close buttons. Even when clicking

I have a pc running XP home. Over the last few months it
seemed to have slowed. So I ran an online virus scan, a
disk cleanup and a defrag.
The scan showed that the computer was infected (with

When I click on Windows Explorer, my root directory (My
Documents) appears and when I hit the next file up button
or click My Computer - a flashlight comes on the screen
and searches for a long time and sometimes all my drives

bought this p4 with xp home a year ago and turned it on
and was blown away by how quick it started up after only
10 seconds or so, now I can turn on the computer and go
make a coffee and come back to see the welcome screen.

I believe I hae disabled task manager.
I can not locate it in Programs Files or anywhere. I
think I have accidently removed the program.

I want to empty my recycle bin, but would like to save the
contents on a cd.  I can't seem to do this.  I tried to
save the contents to a new folder, but again was denied.
