I log in on XP Professional, the desktop and start bar
appear; however I cannot access(click) on anything on the
start bar.  It shows me the hour glass.  This goes on for
about a minute everytime I turn on my computer.  Any

.. for some reason my Automatic Updates keeps downloading
and installing update number 835732 .. I have downloaded
and installed it at least four times and it's now asking

I"m having problems trying to completing defragmenting.
It goes through analizing followed by defragment for about 4 minutes.  Then
both the before and after usage spaces fill up and look exactly alike.  the
moving files progress bar shows 1% completed nd won't go further.

From other postings, I've gotten the distinct impression that JV16 is
considered one of the best registry cleaners around.
I've been using it with some nervousness as I see so many entries that I
could/should remove.

I have a folder on  my desktop that has a few files in it and i cant delete
it.  Tried Norton Wipe Info....System Mechanic...and Tweak XP
any suggestions???

Suddenly, every time I reboot the computer (P4 using Home
XP) all of my fonts disappear except for several fonts
called myriad.ttf and several versions of myriad.  In the
Windows directory, there were actually two subfolders -

I'm having problem installing McAfee VirusScan.  Their
site gives some pretty simple directions to fix the
problem.  Includes typing "regedit" in the run box and
then following some directions.

I was forced to reinstall XP pro (quick format of drive
C) .  When I did, the power scheems standy, sleep,
hybernate, failed to show up in the reinstallation.  They
worked fine on the previous installation and still did on

When i do a system restore i get the following message....System restore could not restore.  Nochanges have been made to the system......though, i have made several changes to the system.    any and all advice greatly appreciated

I did something which made my sysconf file eat up all of
my cpu power.  The only thing I know that I've been doing
is backing-up my system.  Dell support told me to turn of
sysconf.exe which I've done and my computer is running

my computer has been freezing up on a frequent basis
lately. when i look in the event log i get messages that
read "wmdm pmsp service" and "winlogon" is this what's
causing my computer to freeze or am i off base here?
