What does MS call the Emergency Recovery Disk ( ERD ) now?

I have scanned for virus also installed spybot and ad-
ware.I have defraged disc. cleaned up all temp files.xp
still takes about 8 mins to boot up what else can i do ?

When I switch on my computer, just after my desktop comes
on screen, a blue message box appears. It has a heading
which changes each time, e.g.714 or 6a0 or 770 or 73c.
This is then followed by :qttask.exe - no disc.

Does anybody know if I can backup to my hard drive then
copy the backup to the CD-RW.
My system is XP pro and as such I can't backup directly
to my CD-RW.

I find that when I click on a file from windows explorer to open a file (any
type of file) it takes ages to open. I can sometimes wait up to 2 minutes.
If I go to the application first (ie word etc) and open the file - it opens
straight away.
