Problem with automation & other program crashes after Update20 Apr 2004 01:39 GMT2
3 days ago, I updated XP after being reminded by Automatic Windows Update.
Since then I have had problems. (Vversion is 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp2
030422-1633: Service Pack 1) - in addition to the XP update, I did an Office
XP update.

I have a friend's machine (running XP Home, fully patched) which is unusably
slow.  I can see that LSASS.exe together with one instance of SVCHOST.exe
are effectively using all CPU resources.  I've run updated versions of:

on my laptop, i have 2.4 pentuim 4 chip, this is making
the fans constantly run as it is not a mobile chip. Does
anyone know if u can restrict the full usage of the chip

I currently have a Dell Dimension 4500 with a Pentium 4, 2.40 GHz chip,
512 MB RAM.  Running Windows XP Home.
Was wondering if I would notice any significant difference in
speed/performance if I added another 512 MB RAM?  I realize it probably

I am having trouble clicking on links in internet
explorer for windows xp professional.  I will go to web
sites and not be able to click on links.  For example I

Windows can not start because the file <WINDOWS ROOT>
\system32\hal.dll is missing or corupted. Reinstall this
file. How do I reinstall this file using my upgrade CD?

i downloaded the 2 new updates: KB828741 & KB826939, but
after i reboot and go back to the check for new updates
site, i still get them. also my automatic windows update
shows them, and asks me to install those 2.

Need your help!  XP Home hangs in Stand-by, I get the
message ....going into standby... and it just hangs and

My wife downloaded a free iTune and the iTune software
was downloaded along with QuickTime.  Well, long story
short, now my computer takes a long time to shut down,
