3 days ago, I updated XP after being reminded by Automatic Windows Update. Since then I have had problems. (Vversion is 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp2 030422-1633: Service Pack 1) - in addition to the XP update, I did an Office XP update.

I started my system today and got the message that Windows can not start because the file <WINDOWS ROOT> \system32\hal.dll is missing or corupted. Reinstall this file. How do I reinstall this file using my upgrade CD?
