In reviewing the processes running via task manager, even
when I have no applications running, the system process
alternates quickly between using about 40% of the CPU and
0%.  The idle process fluctuates by this 40% too (i.e.

keep experiencing explorer (6) errors upon startup.  
Says "has encountered a problem and need to shutdown".
Then asks to send an error report or not.  How do I fix?

when turning on computer, screen goes to windows xp home
edition or windows xp setup constantly. after selecting
home edition, winxp boots fine until I turn off and

I was trying to download a new drive for my HP printer and
some how screwed up.  Now I get a message that
reads "Windows could not staart because the following file
is missing or corrupt. <windows root>\system32\hal.dll.

When I try to start a disk defrag, I get a message that
Windows does not hve a program associated with the
file "dfrg.msc".  This is a recent development.  How do I

disk clean up function gets locked. I ran the disk
cleanup operation for 24 hrs and nothing happened. Does
anyone have a fix or understand the problem?
