Due to a system "crash" I recently re-installed Windows
XP Professional from my original store-bought CD-ROM.
After a successful installation, I connected to the
Internet and Windows XP automatically downloaded over one-

I can't restore my system to any earlier dates. I get the
this message "the system could not restore to this date.
Please chosse another." I have checked the knowledge db
but and checked its suggestions but nothing has changed.

Ever since I installed XP Home edition My monitor keeps
flickering and scrolling is very annoying.  The monitor
doesn't scroll evenly like it did before.  I'm almost

I'm dealing with an XP Home that has DSL. SBC Yahoo is
the ISP. I'm not able to run msconfig to check the
startup programs (but I can run cmd and also mmc) and I
can't install winpatrol, I click it and just gives me the

 My computer runs fine for about 5-10 minutes and then
the cidaemon.exe starts using a lot of memory: from 2000k
to upwards of 50 000k. At the 2000 level all is well, but
then the computer just craps out and starts devoting all

It doesn't seem to affect anything but it is terribly annoying

I use Spybot and Bazooka to clear out these things every morning.  I have the XP firewall enabled and also zone alarm firewall.
How do I keep the adware/spyware/tracking cookies from even entering my PC

I was told that it was ok to delete the files in the
windows prefetch in order to get rid of obsolite files.
Well after I did that no new files are being added now.

Anyways my computer boots up, and when the windows XP
(Home) screen "Windows is starting up screen" is
displayed, teh computers runs as if its about to display
