Have AMD Athlon 64 processor using Win XP home.  
Installed Win XP 64-bit edition.  Computer crashed.  
Called support.  tried to recover disk using 7 recovery
discs from mcrosoft- didn't work gives- can't reccover

my anti virus soft ware says i have a sober.g worm. i ran a fix and it said it had gotten rid of it....but apparently it's still here...anyone have any ideas...can i ever get rid of this thing?  it worries me to have email being sent out that i know nothing about

I only had tracking cookies... I didn't have any spyware.
Any other ideas?

Trying to use disc clean-up.
It starts then just sits on "scanning-compress old files"
Its been 2 hours.  Same thing happens in safe mode.
Any suggestions?

my computer continually locks up. after about 5 minutes
after logging into XP, the system locks up entirely and I
have to manually shut it down, and then when I bring it
back up, it does it all over again. help, before I throw

I have just converted my c drive from fat32 to ntfs and i
find my computer has slowed down immensly.
How can this be rectified ??

My internet access has crawled to a stop.  I have XP
firewall, cable modem firewall, Norton security, spam
inspector.  All of these worked together just fine until
two days ago, when suddenly everything slowed to a stop.

As Windows XP loads, the system 32 window always pops up.
I click on the x and it disappears. How do I keep this
from appearing each time I start the computer?

Both my desk top and my notebook are Compaqs and both run
Windows XP.  Neither one of them will run Disk Cleanup.
In both of them, Disk Cleanup will begin -- but the

For some reason my windows update screen stops at the "checking for the
latest version of windows update software" screen and stops. This of course
prevents me from checking for updates. This was working perfectly til today,

In order to install and keep critical updates, I need to
delete WUTEMP folder. However, when I attempt to do that,
it tells me that folder is corrupt and won't let me
delete it.

Anyway, I have a problem that started a couple of months
