I sometimes have power cuts in my area.  When I start
Windows xp again, at the login screen (Cntrl-Alt-Del) the
system is non-responsive to the keyboard.  However, if I
unplug the power cable and replug it in, then the pc works

I have recently replaced the OS of a Presario 7000 to XP home. After noticing incredibly slow performance, upgraded ram to 512. Sytem still is painfully slow. Could this be a bad H.D.?, What else would cause such slow speed after a fresh OS install?

I have a problem thats been occuring for the past couple
of months. Everytime I start or restart XP, 150+

I have Office 2003 SetUp files stored on my HD. When I do XP CleanDisk, these SetUp Fiels are always analyzed which delays the actual cleaning process. Is there a way - apart from deleting the SetUp files - to avoid CleanDisk to analyze these files? Thanks

when I view the contents of a folder with mixed file

When certain programs accessed, an annoying sound similar to a mooing cow sounds out  i.e.when msn, google accessed.  Ad-aware, Norton anti virus and spybot searches indicate no viruses yet annoying sound comes on spradically. Any ideas what this is and how to get rid of it?
