I have the problem described in KB 832585. Simply put,
upgrading XP Home to SP1, it corrupted my task scheduler,
so scheduled tasks do not run. To download the fix for

I have windows xp pro and this blue screen has been
annoying me lately.It appears quite randomly but very
often and I have tried every thing I know or i was advised

Lately, when I shutdown my pc, I get an error message
reading "dwwin.exe failed to initialize a dll" or something
to that effect. After doing so Windows seems to shutdown
normally, and afterwards will startup normally as well. I

am having trouble running scandisk for the last few
days, whereas previously it ran without problems.
On the Check Disk Options, I ticked both 'Automatically
Fix File System Errors' and 'Scan For And Attempt

During shutdown/log off I get this message:

I am trying to help a friend defrag her computer.  When we
go to system tools and ask that the defrag start, it will
go to about 3% and then close down the computer.  This
computer is in dire straights and needs to be defraged.

After the Computer boots to the desktop a window pops up
with the error code 678 "The remote computer did not
respond" and asks if to re-dial. I would like to know how
to disable this pop up error.

I get the message End Program - rundll32.exe This program
not responding when I close Windows XP.  I have to check
End Program for windows to close.  What is causing this
and how do I fix it?

When I hit control/alt/del, my taskmanager no longer opens, do I have a virus, since I also can't load my Norton Antivirus either??

When I try to run disc cleanup, it says "Calculating and scanning: compress old files" but nothing else happens.  My CPU usage also goes to 100% and stays that way even after cancelling the disc cleanup.

I have set up XP Pro to auto download updates from which I can then install.
