The display on my Sony screen is irregular in brightness.  I have a "blob" of

Hi, I was running 2 applications that used modem, EZ Voice and Skype.
System crashed, I restarted, and just to be safe, scheduled an Error Checking.
On windows restart, it starts Error Checking, BUT, it stops scanning after 3
or 4 seconds, and it just freezes.

for a few months the visualisateions have neen very slow on windows media
player, but recently several things have happened, i got a router, an ipod,
broadband and downloaded itunes and now i have found that quicktime freezes
for a few seconds every once in a while and windows ...

I just cleaned out my registery and found that I also deleted some dll
files.  Now I system restore is gone....I also can't scandisk...nothing
happens for that either.
How can I restore it back to normal?  I'm afraid to shut down my computer or

Why is it that the "Start" button is missing & application program(s) won't
run after we opted for a "Restore"(Puspose was to elude some of the stubborn
adware) in a particular date that we established as a restore point.

I get this error message whenever I try to change program settings or

How should I set my maintenence scedule to defragment my files if I'm on the
internet all day long.

THis program is not responding. I get this message quite
often on shutdown and have to click end now to get XP to
finish shutting down. Any ideas on what my problem might

Last week, my computer for no apparent reason got to where it wouldn't
bootup correctly.  It would hang with the opening WinXP-Home Edition screen.
Part of the time I could boot in Safe Mode than shut down and it would boot
correctly.  It got to where that wouldn't even work.
