Info: When I tried several times to download SP2 it would stop halfway and timed itself out. I learned that my problem was caused by an improperly removed software (Roxio).

My desktop icons have for some reason suddenly got a colored background! But I want them transparent again! I've tried to uncheck the box of drop shadows in the Performance thingie, but It doesn't help!

Hi, I was running 2 applications that used modem, EZ Voice and Skype. System crashed, I restarted, and just to be safe, scheduled an Error Checking. On windows restart, it starts Error Checking, BUT, it stops scanning after 3 or 4 seconds, and it just freezes.

Why is it that the "Start" button is missing & application program(s) won't run after we opted for a "Restore"(Puspose was to elude some of the stubborn adware) in a particular date that we established as a restore point.

THis program is not responding. I get this message quite often on shutdown and have to click end now to get XP to finish shutting down. Any ideas on what my problem might be? Thanks in advance. Chuck

Last week, my computer for no apparent reason got to where it wouldn't bootup correctly. It would hang with the opening WinXP-Home Edition screen. Part of the time I could boot in Safe Mode than shut down and it would boot correctly. It got to where that wouldn't even work.
