In Windows XP Professional Edition: Opening any local file takes more then 40 sec to open.But as soon as i disconnect from the network ,the local files open in 1 sec. This happens occasionaly.

Drive #2 labelled F has developed 'bad blocks' several chkdsk scans produce many files so I believe the Event and System log reports even though the name listed didn't exactly match the name of the second hard drive<grin>

I deleted most of a reader file from XP HE but am left with one file on my desktop when i try to delete it i get a message saying Error Deleting File or Folder cannot delete AcroIEHelper.cx: access is denied.

I use a 64MB Memory Key to back up files from MS XP. It has worked OK for a year. Today when I attempted to open the Mem. Key, the , the MY Computer screen went blank. No way I can access the Mem. Key icon.. If I click on properties it shows 1MB used and 3MB available on a 64MB ...

Upgraded from a 40Gig Hard Drive to a WDC 1200JBRTL (120 Gig) drive this evening. System is booting and seemed to run fine. I let the software that came with the Western Digital 120 Gig do the disk creation/copy of my old boot drive onto the new drive.

Sorry for the long title. Does anyone know how I would go about de-compressing files on my main hard dirve that were compressed using the disk cleanup utility? It is a bit tedius to go through each and every folder on my hard drive and decompress each file.

I have an executable file compiled in C that does numerically intensive calculations that I use as a benchmark of computer performance. I am running Windows XP Service Pack 2. When I run it on one computer Task Manager shows a CPU Usage History of 100 %.
