My system is kind of messed up and I want to give it a clean start by
re-formatting the hard disk and re-install XP.
Does anybody know if that will give me problems with registering (again)
after I re-installed XP?

   I have been getting small memory dumps and then a reboot of Windows XP
and it only happens when I am playing a WMV file in Windows Media Player. I
have 1Gb of RAM and an adequate video card and an AMD Athlon XP2800 CPU, and
I don't run a lot of stuff that is any more graphics ...

    i use windows xp media and mozilla firefox.  when i try to view

install plugins - when i do i am told there are no plug ins available

Hi. I have a Western Digital 40 gb HD full of info in it. After a
Motherboard crash and replacement, bios doesn´t see the disk (actually it
freezes during recognition). I moved it to another computer, and it sees it
as 0 Mb.

One of our PCs has recently stopped being used. The reason for this was
initially because it refused to load any program that involved the Internet.
We basically assumed this was to do with a LAN issue and left it be for a
bit. Now tonight I go to use it and find that I cannot ...

I have read just about everything posted on web and I can't find out how to
fix the problem. I cannot get disk cleanup to open at all. I have tried every

On some web sites I get a security alert.

Windows XP with latest updates on a Dell Optiplex...
This is a recent problem - it use to work fine.  When I turn the computer on
or restart, it takes a very long time (10 seconds or more) for the Start
button & task bar (that shows open programs) to appear.  The desktop appears

I have XP home and all of my secondary folders open to the search window. I
open them by right mouse then open.

MY FUNCTION KEYS WERE WORKING YESTERDAY, BUT TODAY THEY'RE NOT.  I ESPECIALLY

In MSCONFIG (system configuration utility) Startup tab, there are items
listed from a Roxio product that I have uninstalled.  They are unchecked,
but still listed.  I have gone to the path listed in the startup tab, and
they are physically deleted.

While using a p2p program, a file I downloaded was disguised as  a program,
but turned out to be a link to a porn site.  There is now a link on my start
menu which just says “PORN” with an arrow.  If I right click it it opens the
