My system is kind of messed up and I want to give it a clean start by
re-formatting the hard disk and re-install XP.
Does anybody know if that will give me problems with registering (again)
after I re-installed XP?

   I have been getting small memory dumps and then a reboot of Windows XP
and it only happens when I am playing a WMV file in Windows Media Player. I
have 1Gb of RAM and an adequate video card and an AMD Athlon XP2800 CPU, and

Hi. I have a Western Digital 40 gb HD full of info in it. After a

I have read just about everything posted on web and I can't find out how to
fix the problem. I cannot get disk cleanup to open at all. I have tried every
way possible to open thinking maybe I had a corrupt shortcut but to no avial.

Windows XP with latest updates on a Dell Optiplex...
This is a recent problem - it use to work fine.  When I turn the computer on
or restart, it takes a very long time (10 seconds or more) for the Start
button & task bar (that shows open programs) to appear.  The desktop appears

In MSCONFIG (system configuration utility) Startup tab, there are items
listed from a Roxio product that I have uninstalled.  They are unchecked,
but still listed.  I have gone to the path listed in the startup tab, and
they are physically deleted.

While using a p2p program, a file I downloaded was disguised as  a program,
but turned out to be a link to a porn site.  There is now a link on my start
menu which just says “PORN” with an arrow.  If I right click it it opens the
link, so I cannot delete it,  I have deleted all ...

We're running a SBS 2003 network with Xp workstations.  The server and
workstations are all new so they "fast".
