I just reloaded Windows XP Pro on my laptop and got all the updates and
loaded my applications and noticed that the "system" process is always using
50% of my CPU, thereby slowing my system down.  What did I do wrong?  How can
I fix this.  

I am having a problem with my explorer.exe using up 99% of the CPU processor
time, making my computer very, very, slow. I have tried to run the defrag,

does not provide a link or instructions on where to get it other than call

Whenever I click on a link for WMP it starts up but will not play.

Have recieved a message via Windows Auto Updates that it was unable to

Summary of issue
I am having problems upgrading my Dell Dimension 4600C desktop from Win XP

In the event log under "system" I get the error that the event log file is

A mate of mine is having a problem with his PC where when he boots it up, he
receives a 'system error' and his sound card does not work.
He can reinstall the drivers and this makes it work until he re-boots when
