Recently, every application on my home PC brings up a popup of Windows
Install - preparing to install.The annoyance and fustration is that every
popup takes more than a minute or two to clear - I'm unable to cancel as the
screen freezes and the cursor ic immobile for the period.

Windows crashed.  Had trouble trying to fix.  As Windows Installer Service
wont' start, can't install, un-install or modify programmes.  Don't know how
to sort.

I have broudband internet wireless connection, I also have an AMD processor,
When I go on line I stay connected for anything from 5 to 15 minutes before
my PC freezes on me, my mouse does not respond ans i have to restart my PC.

Dragging of Windows/Inactive Windows.09 May 2006 09:08 GMT1
I have a couple of strange behaviours which started some time ago.
1.When dragging a 'restored-down' window the movement is very jerky/wavy
(wavelike). If dragging fast,  a  'tail' of the dragged window can be
observed.

Hi,  I recently installed a new WD 250 GB Raid Edition (high reliability)
SATA drive.  I have an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard.  It uses the Intel
ICH5(R) Chipset.  I have a WD 300GB SATA drive attatched to one of the 2 sata
ports, with the 250 attatched to the other.

I did my usual monthly disk cleanup of my c drive and just ticked all the
boxes that had data in them.  My computer then started to delete windows
system files and subsequently I coud not stop it and therefore lost all win
system files and could not reboot into windows the error ...

Grateful of any suggestions on this problem.
On boot up Windows Home edition XP shows all descriptions of apps and file
names as hieroglyphics /symbols. all programmes work OK and files when copied
to another PC work OK with correct readable file descriptions.

I have XP Home, 2003 Server.  I am having problems in Outlook, Word, etc.
with the program locking up.  I cannot attach/open attachments in Outlook.  
In Word, Excel, the buttons on the toolbars lock up the program when I click

when I try to update the clock in the update tab I get rpc server down cannot
update when I reboot I have no problem. This start to occur after I install
IE 7 Beta 2. I unistall 7 and still have this problem any suggestions

My pc keeps going into suspend mode unexpectedly, and just locks up.

Ive just tried to do an inplace reinstall, but my XP CD says that it cant do
it as the copy of XP im running now is better than the one on the CD
(probably - but not certainly - because the CD has the original version of XP
and im running XP SP2).

when windows start desktop soes not have any icons or the start button till
about 2 minuets ,The no of process in the taskmanager is 22.
after about 2-3 min the no of process increase to the normal of about 57 &
every thing icons on the desktop is visible.
