I'm having a problem trying to shutdown my notebook.  When I click on the
option to shutdown, it tells me it is shutting down, then just stops on the
'Windows is shutting down...' screen.  I have left it for hours and still
nothing.  I've run a full virus check with AVG, full ...

I am getting a system lock up very frequently and I don't know how to correct
it. To recover I have to shut off the power to the compluter.  The event log
is showing:
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address

After changing drive names using the registry in XP Pro, Windows won't boot.
It loads to the screen right before the user list shows up, but the "Loading
Windows..." text doesn't show and it hangs there. How can I get it to go past
this screen?

My computer restarted unexpectedly after a blue screen came up and said
"REGISTRY_ERROR" and "STOP: 0x00000051

up during reboot. Is there anything I can do?

I CANNOT get scheduled task disk cleanup to run. I have tried every response
in this newsgroup concerning scheduled tasks not running, been to the support
and troubleshoot sites, completely reinstalled XP with all NEW passwords,
reinstalled with No paswords, reinstalled with OLD ...

Help!  I have been getting the "blue screen of death"  While working, my

I got a message from the security center, did the updates.... Now i can't
turn the virus protection back on, it stays highlighted in red.  

I am running out of disk space. I have used all the tolls available to XP in
order to solve this problem, but to  no avail. Is there any unistall data
that I can delete from all the windows updates. I know that I will never be
able to uninstall any updates but I don't see that as ...

Is there any other ways to free space other than the disk clean up, remove all
unwanted files, cleane temp files, clean unwanted programs, and restore
points. I have 45.6 GB used space and 3.37 free.  I don't know what else I

When running CHKDSK on XP (Home) I get the following message.....
Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.
Windows found problems with the file system.
Run CHKDSK with the /F (fix) option to correct these.
