I have 16GB available on C. I need to copy (from network) a 4.5GB file. When

OK, I bought a laptop from a friend running XP PRO. He had given me his admin
password for access, so I created a new Admin account for myself and deleted

I have tried on several occasions to upgrade my XP Home PC to SP2.
Every time after i install SP2 my computer fails to start up. it says a
recent hardware change..... I always have to restore the PC back to SP1. Is
there a problem with SP2 installing on PCs with AMD athlon ...

I installed a serial card in a new dell machine and have a symbol scanner
plugged in to it.  I believe the scanner is working fine but how do I tell
if the serial card is installed and working fine.  Device Manager??

Is it possible to schedule or arrange for an automatic deletion of cookies,
say daily or weekly? I have scheduled Temp Inter Files clean up, but this
does not delete the cookies I find in browser properties.

As a remedy to create more space on my harddrive, Windows XP prompted
me to compress older files (i.e., along with deleting temporary files,
etc).  As a result I now have many zipped files that XP is tracking as

Goal: Using Opera 9 as my default web browser
I tried selecting Opera 9 as my default browser, however, Internet
shortcuts still start IE. I tried the same with Firefox 1.5 with
similar results.
