This concerns a friend's computer, not my own. She's runnning XP Pro and
she's not very computer literate at all. I am trying to help her and the
problem has me baffled.
First of all, she has NO virus protection. The trial version that was

i want to start fresh on my computer, but don't know how to reformat my hard
drive, and can't find any easy tutorials on the net - can anyone give me a
good website or tutorial i can use? or should i not do it myself at all and
get a professional to do it for me? help!

HK Local machine\system\control\set001\enum\root\legacy
Legacy contains a lot of lines, and when I try to delete any of them, the

I have MSUpdate setup to download then tell me when I have updates to
install. If I know I've got updates but the "gold shield" isn't showing up
how can I trigger it or where can I find it? The shield is on the "shutdown"
button when I go to shutdown but I want to see what's going ...

A couple of days ago my cable internet has been so slow. Its been going
slower than a 56k. I called the cable company and the technician said
all the wires are fine and he doesnt know whats wrong. He said maybe
that since I download alot I have a slower broadband connection.

WinDoctor gives me the following 5 errors, but is unable to repair
them. They're unintelligible to me. Anyone able to help me understand

hi i just got a image file of the norton anti virus software and i
loaded the image file in the daemon tools virtual drive. the image
loads and then when i click autoplay or try to open the drive windows
outputs the error message as" windows cannot read from  disk. the disk

Once I have logged on with user name and password, the box "Loading data,
please wait..." comes up and continues to display. It appears to be trying to
load because the (...) periods after the word wait are flashing.  I don't
think it loads any user data because it just hangs ...

can anyone help me.  i'm running windows xp with a broadband connection on a
wireless (home) network.  my problem is that my computer has slowed down,
both on internet related stuff and generally, to a point where it is

delete it in the add/remove section and it will not remove. I tryed running
the windows program msicuu.exe but it is still there. it doesnt show in my
program files. but in the add remove list. it says it ...

question is.........when we bought our new home puter, i went in and set up
all the personal info, passwords and etc.  Two days later we went on vacation
for three weeks.  I never used the new password ...
