What could be the problem, sometimes it runs perfectly but then it slows down
on whatever im doing, even the sounds sound like its stalling then it go back
to normal...

I am dealing with a machine where the intital version of Windows XP went bad

person then obtained a legitimate copy of Windows XP Home and re-installed

So, I turn on my laptop which is running XP home, it say si need to activate
windows, I click yes it tells me Windows is already active click OK to exit,
so I click OK to exit and I'm back to the log in screen to do it all over

I am encountering a delay (as much as 15 seconds) when I try to open a file
(or want to browse files using Explorer) from our network.  This is somewhat
a new phenomenon in that it is occuring now since we moved offices to a new
location across town.  Here is a typical scenario:

explorer does though - I can not mount a disk at a mount point and none of

I have somehow lost the capability to copy files to a CD. WinXP SP2
has always been able to select files or folders, and copy to a CD. Now
there is no option to copy to CD. If I select a file to copy and then
try to access a CD to paste, I get an error message window with the

I own a laptop with the charging circuit has died.
The battery is allways connected to a charger so never goes dead.

I now have my restoral disks and would like to utilize the space taken up by
the allocated 'D' drive. I have deleted the contents, but the space is still
property of the 'D' drive residing on the 'C' drive. Could someone get me

I have a system (5 years old) running XP Home ed. and the Windows
system folder is 4 GB in size.  I've got a 15 GB partition and I have
tried to clean up the disk because I have about 1.5 GB left.  Is there
a way to reduce the size of this folder?  Thanks.

I've tried to uninstall "Registry Cleaner" from my system, with no luck. Of
course, I have no idea which program I installed in order to be rewarded with
this <gift>, so I can't just go to that program and uninstall it, then

What can I do?  About every 5 seconds the system freezes for about a couple
seconds and it's driving me nuts!!!!  Can someone please tell me how I can
find out what process is doing this?  I have watched the task manager and the
