A friend's computer seems to have picked up a virus, which is affecting .exe
files. His anti-virus is disabled. Every time I try to use the command

of the command (regedit, sysedit, etc.) It also won't ...

I try to run scandisk through both the Run menu and through the Tool part of
the Properties (C Drive). I can only run chkdsk, not the whole chkdsk C:/f

says "A checkdisk has been scheduled. The checkdisk ...
Windows XP professional SP1 Virtual memory issue10 Aug 2006 08:45 GMT3
What is causing a PC's Virtual Memory to be automatically reset
without any manual intervention. The affected PC's were upgraded from 512MB
to 1GB and  we locally reset the VM from 640 to 1280. However, the vast
majority of PC's we now appear to have had their VM reset back to 640.

I am trying to find out what processes actually need to be running on Windows

Something is wrong with a certain password.09 Aug 2006 23:53 GMT2
I turned on my computer and found a dialog bog titled "lsass.exe - System

OK, I've been crawling all over the net and can't find a solution to this:

is 256 MB too little memory to handle SP-2?09 Aug 2006 16:12 GMT9
For some time (possibly ever since downloading SP-2) my Dell laptop has been

Mgr shows "System Idle Process" using up to 98% of CPU memory and he thinks
that might be my problem -- i.e. that 256MB was ...
