When I start my PC up, it says that it is trying to install something but I
don't know what.  It takes about 5 minutes and repeated pressing of the
cancel button to make it stop.
Any ideas how I can make this go away?

Despite defragging and removing any viruses, two problems persist.    
Firstly, I can't drag the Word icon onto the desktop, neither will it create
a Word shortcut on the desktop in the 'normal' way.  Secondly, Word is
desperately, and I mean desperately, slow to load.
