increasing sockets above 65K30 Sep 2006 23:34 GMT1
We are currently using IE 6.0 as a video over IP viewing window on XP
Pro.  The CPU usage spikes at 100% and the image freezes (this happens
periodically).  We also incur numerous page faults.  We're told that
the maximum sockets allowed by XP is 65,000 with a refresh rate of 4

InstantShareDevices30 Sep 2006 12:55 GMT2
Windows installer tries to install "InstantShareDevices" at reboot time and
the only way I can stop it is to end the task with Task Manager.
I'm not sure how I managed to get this but would to get rid of it!
Does anyone know where this came from and how to fix it?

USB Memory drive30 Sep 2006 04:37 GMT3
When I insert USB memory drive into my HP a850y it asks that I copy the file
to my hard rive for editing.  My IBM think pad does not do this, adn allows
editing right on the stick itself.
What an id doing?  This is realy a nuisance.
What's causing fragmentation of system's metadata files?30 Sep 2006 04:24 GMT7
I'm just wondering what's causing deep HD metadata files fragmentation here
lately. I was pointing on some new software I had installed recently but they
aren't the culprit (uninstalled them for testing but fragmentation persists
from time to time). Is there any way to find out ...

I have Fast User Switching enabled and sometimes when I log off my user ID or

then either Log Off or Switch.  It appears that my Log Off goes as it should,
but then the computer does nothing.  It remains on ...

Hard drive corruption, Serial ATA, RAID 029 Sep 2006 16:49 GMT3
I'll try to be as concise as possible and this is an overclocking issue
that I haven't found a reasonable answer too. I am hoping the problem is a
general one that applies to many systems rather than a hardware/brand
specific one.
