I just installed a new (LaCie) 300GB Drive. In all but one respect it works
beautifully.
I partitioned it with one primary and one extended partition. In the
Extended partition, I created 2 logical drives. All of these I formatted with

My new HP Pavillion 4200+ is very slow at start up and for that matter at
shutdown.
My older 2800+ CPU was much faster in both and had a lot more programs
installed.

I would like to start fresh and reinstall Windows XP on my computer but I do
not have a cd to do so.  Windows was preloaded on my computer so I didn't
need to install with a cd.  How can I reinstall Windows XP without a cd?

I takes about 7 minutes for my PC to start loading up. Then, I can use all
the programs at normal speed. What can I do to fix that?

when i open any window or program the address bar at the top follows with
(not responding) after about 30 seconds or less of it being open. is there
anything i can try that will stop this happening as it renders me unable to
do anything until it clears again. sometimes this may ...

just a quick one from a newb. i have McAfee security centre on my pc, do i
need windows firewall & McAfee's or just one of them? if i only need one of

Maybe more than 3 months I am getting low battery error once a week(it pops
up in the taskbar), My computer time looks ok!!! I dont know why I get this
error.My computer is Medion pentium D ,360GB ,1 GB RAM, and quite new , 7
months old only.Also sometimes I got Blue screen error ...

WindowsXP only provides this command prompt:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>

I have a new PC and would like to install the hard drive from my old PC into
the new one.  I would like to be able to boot to either one.  Both hard
drives have WinXP Home installed.  I know how to install a hard drive but not
sure about the dual boot stuff.  Thank you.

I have been trying to run the disk defragmenter, but it won't finish. I have
run disk cleaner in each user account then disk error check with no problems.
The analysis says to defragment the volume. I have tried in normal and safe

FORMATTED CD-RW USING InCD.  WIND. XP INTERFERS AND SAVES
FILES AS READ ONLY.  CANNOT CHANGE ATTRIBUTE TO ARCHIVE
SO CAN REVISE AND SAVE FILES EASILY.  WHEN TRIED TO RE-
FORMAT, CD-RW BECAME UNREADABLE IN MY CD WRITER.  ONLY

System specs:
Celeron 2.4 GhZ
Geforce FX5500 256MB
1 Gig of ram.
