You probably get this all the time, but anyway... XP is fine starting up, but takes a vry long time to log on, log off and shut down. It also takes a long time to start a program, and after closing a program, it takes a while to recover. While in the program or an idle state,

My registry got corrupted and I can not longer get into windows XP sp2. I am running windows xp sp2 and windows 2003 on this system and have 4 other partitions with plenty of other free disk space. I created another parition and did a back up there.

I have an application (an VAX emulator) that opens two Gbyte sized files. The first time that I run this program in a windows (XP/HOME SP2 - same thing happens on an XP/Prof SP2 on a laptop and another desktop (every system I've tried it on) also all are NTFS)

A new winxp media center system I just set up and shipped north for my folks. They then proceeded to install the DSL modem/software, and with help from SBC's tech support, trashed the computer! All they now get is a background image--no icons, no task bar, etc.
