Just got home after a vacation and ran all the updates that were waiting for
me.  Now I get the above message shortly after bootup and after that I loose
all ability to start any other programs.  I can continue to work within any
program I've already started.

WIN XP locks up after a few minutes of inactivity.
If I restart, all works fine for as long as I am very frequently moving the
mouse or typing on the keyboard. If I leave it alone for a short time,
everything locks up. Moving the mouse or trying cntrl-alt-del does nothing.
