Anyone else find Windows Defender makes their cpu sluggish? If I want to open a browser, or any program in less than 40 seconds, I hafta stop windows defender in msconfig. I've got 128mb or sdram, a 1.1gig p4 processor, 30gig hd (40%free space). Any input???

I can't seem to shutdown my computer still. It goes as far as the "windows is shutting down". I assume there is a hangtime or it freezes. plz help me if you can =/

I am trying to figure out if their is a way to delete old system restore points using a script or batch file? I want to do the same thing as Disk Cleanup, More Options, Clean Up. I would want a non-admin user to be able to run the script.

If running chkdsk tool from win UI (drive->properties->tools->error checking) I only get the summary like "all is OK". Does chkdsk generate any log file on default without user input ? The same question regarding running scheduled chkdsk (while system start-up)

I'm a new XP user and have my hard disk set up with a 'C' drive for Windows and 'D' drive for my data. At present there is nothing on the 'D' drive, while shared and my document folders are on 'C', together with the recycle bin.
