a screeching sound comes from my laptop when I unplug the earphones, (regardless of volume setting) the earphones work fine. I am using windows XP home 2002 service pack 2 and would like to use the speakers on the laptop.

I want to uninstall Windows XP & reinstall Windows 2000 that came with my laptop. However I don't have the W2000 CD. I think I saw a Microsoft KB that describes the procedure but I can't find. Can someone point me in the right direction?
