My XP home edition seems to be corrupted and will not boot up. Trying to recover from disc gets following message from Windows setup : " setup did not find any hard disk drives installed" Any help?

I noticed on my computer that the archive folder stored in My Documents is very large (16GB). Are these files critical to the system or can they be deleted? Thanks in advance for any help

Every once in a while my system will not get past the first boot screen. It's rare enough that I usually forget the "solution" between events. The solution is to unplug USB devices and reboot the system. I can then plug the devices back in and things usually go back to normal for

hi, I have given my laptop to my partner, but it needs to be returned to factory settings as it is so slow and has so much on it he doesn't need, I have tried system restore, but obviously will only let me go back a couple of months. Sorry I am not a wiz with these things

Today I received ~30 mail returns from people I have never heard of (mainly in Italy). I ran SpybotSD and found numerous intrusions, removed them, ran Ad aware and found one which I removed.Subsequently when I boot from cold the Intel splash screen remains for some 2 mins before

Sometimes when I click shut down my computer ignores me. How can I get it's attention and tell it to shut down. Note: ctl-alt-del/shut down gives same result. Win XP SP2, AMD64 proc @ 2ghz, AVG antivir, Ad-Watch active monitoring.

I partitioned an external hard drive with Partition Magix 7 but failed to make a note of the old drive letters, Drive Mapper found no changes. When I requested up-dates from Norton on Magix I got the following response: Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

Running Windows XP Pro. When I turn the computer on and click on a program including Internet Explorer, it sometimes takes as long as 45 seconds before it responds. Have defragged, cleaned disk and scanned for viruses, no change.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Natlo.
