svchost.exe taking 90% cpu07 Jun 2007 09:42 GMT3
When I start up windows, the svchost.exe process responsible of running the
windows update process takes 90% of the cpu.
What could be the problem?

I have a machine with Win XP Pro running 24/7 as home server.
It would be very interesting for me to see the current status of this server
remotely in order to have it under control.

With a Compaq computer, it has a AMD Sempron 3200+ and in the setup it shows
that it runs at 1800 MHz. I know that's what it does run at, but the problem
is, in the System Properties it shows:
AMD Sempron(tm) Processor

I cannot get any of other software to work because the svchost.exe file is
using all my processor's load... I have noticed that there are 5 svchost.exe
files working when I start my computer....

I currently have an issue where if my users try to log off they get an "end
task" window appearing with a procvess called IconWindow (no spaces) running?
Does anyone have any ideas on what this is and why it's hanging the logoff

On my XP SP2 I went offline (WLAN) and couldn't reconnect to my
access-point. So I restarted the machine.
But know, the RPC service does not start up, so many other programs or
services won't also startup. If I start it manually I get the message "RPC

i had a 'Restore It!' window appear as usual, and had the Windows icon appear

I have an Icon on my desktop that I "cannot delete file -- cannot read from
source file or disk"  The file has no extension.  Properties show File Type =
"File"  It has 0 bytes.  It does not list using a command prompt, and it
won't rename, cut, or delete from destop or windows ...

When I installed QuickTimePlayer last year,  iTunes was installed
along with it, (but in its own folder in C:\Program Files).
I now want to remove iTunes, but the Control Panel|Add/Remove
Programs|iTunes|Remove does not work.
