A friend of mine has a Win XP laptop and recently bought an external hard-drive which is Windows and Apple compatible. He wants to store Apple compatible music files on the external drive and to be able to listen to those files on his laptop.

I have searched all my notes and just cannot find the actual command that allows checking system files from the command line. The one that may or may not pull files down from the CD. The parameter was /now, but I simply cannot remember the command. Any help?

xp use more than 400m virtual memory shown in task manager however, the swap file is still 300m as manually set before. No signal in change of swap size. am i wrong in understanding virtual memory?

The Backup utility can create very large files...too large to fit on a DVD. Is there a way to save these backup files to DVDs so I don't have to take up space on an external hard drive?

I did several of the XP Performance and Maintenance items and next time I started my Dell XPS400 running XP I had no D or E drive, no IE, no Player 365, and other TBD. Could not do System Restore or reinstall the optical drives. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.
