HOW CAN I GET MY UMAX ASTRA 600P SCANNER TO WORK WITH WINDOWS  XP

I have a laserjet 4l printer and can print from word ok
but whenever I try to print from the Internet I get an

pro.  After this upgrade printing have slowed
dramatically.  It will print one page wait 5 to 10 seconds
