I am currently running Windows XP SP1.    There is an old DOS-based program

The DOS-based program is still trying to print to LPT1.

 We have a HP DeskJet 3550 installed on a Windows XP Professional machine
via USB. The DeskJet will print a test page in the administrator account,
but will not print in the limited account.
 In the limited account, the print cartridge is moving like it is printing

I'm using Window's XP home Edition on a Toshiba lap top.  
I have a HP Deskjet 340 portable printer I want to
install on the lap top.  Do you know if this will be
compatible and/or will the Window's WP program recognize

I run windows xp on a Dell w/ p4.  I can't print because
my OS seems to keep putting my printer on pause.
I somehow figured out how to unpause but it keeps
defaulting back to pause.
