Is there a vendor that has an RD product that installs on W2K that works

I can establish a Remote Desktop connection when my laptop is on my home router (which is where my host desktop is).
I cannot establish a remote desktop connection when my laptop dials up to the internet.  ( get an error that says it doesn't recognize the IP address of my host ...

I have successfully used remote desktop for over 4 1/2 months remoting
from work to home and from home to other pc's that I maintain.  Just
