I would like to use Remote Desktop to select music through RealPlayer, but NOT have the audio redirected to the remote PC(i.e. I want it to play from the sound card of the server computer). Is this possible?

Using the Remote Desktop utility in XP. What do you put in for the computer name when your connecting. Is it the IP address of the connection or Does the remote computer actually get a name?

I recently migrated from to a new server. All shares remain the same, but the server name changed and a laptop is looking for the old server. I can't find where you change this anywhere. The laptop is Windows XP...the new server is a SBS 200.

Hi, a little advice appreciated on the following scenario:- User has a desktop (XP pro) and a laptop (98), works on both and needs access to their files from both, would also like to have the synchronisation of the files automated when the laptop is in the office.

I have 4 networks setup using RD for admininstration. On an irregular basis I go to logon to one of the clients and RD starts to hook and then disconnects. No error message just a return to local desktop.

Is it possible to have the remote desktop connection (admin tools) client installed on a Win XP Home machine I've used it all the time at work as we have XP Pro but at home i have XP Home and grow tired very quickly of faking remote desktop connection using remote assistance.

I have two different keyboards on my computers. One is and azerty (French) keyboard and a qwerty (US-international) keyboard. Now I want to use remote desktop, however when I type something the incorrect strings are displayed.

I keep getting this message when connecting with a VPN connection to the office and then RDP to a workstation. The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.

Remote desktop connection stops responding after I have been connected for a couple of hours. I must reboot the computer accessed remotely to clear the freeze. Has anyone else encountered this?
