I have a hosted windows 2003 server that I want to connect to remotely for admin purposes. AFAICT remote desktop connection is more secure than VNC and is much faster. Is there any reason I would use VNC?

I am trying to connect 2 my brothers computer with Remote Desktop. Both mine and his computer are XP Home. I have viewed a few web pages about this kind of connection but they talk about XP Pro and servers and I just get lost.

I've been reading the posts and I am reluctant to routinely establish RDC without VPN first. I can set up both from home to the office (not concurrently) , but not RDC through VPN, yet. I use the same server NIC to connect to either, and I am assuming i cannot use the same server ...

By mistake, while trying to reconfigure some bootup and shut down problems I changed the settings in the registry that now when I turn on my comp and log in on my administrator user password the computer shuts down and reboots again to the point where the user password is required ...

As Remote Desktop doesn't run full-screen DOS I have a problem running a Dos program that auto switches itself to full screen. This is done by the program and the DOS command window settings have no influence.
