both machines running XP pro, no firewalls running on either machine, novice machine connects to internet thru cox cable modem and I connect thru MS500 wireless router that connects to DSL modem. Both machines are set up to use RD and RA.

Computer has XP Pro. Service is SBC with a static gateway IP number (69.216.XXX.XXX) and also an assignable range of IP numbers. I set up a user name and password on this computer. This is only one computer - not a network. I want to connect to this computer from home.

somehow startnow navigation helper got on my computer but when i try to uninstall, it wont work. help?..also when i am turning on or restarting my computer its REALLY slow and takes several minutes..any suggestions to speed things up?
