I'm not sure where to put this question - but hopefully someone can help. Isn't there a way to send little messages (not e-mails) to the other computers on the same network? We used to do this where I worked - but can't seem to do it at home.

I have a shared disk of a machine in a workgroup. I can read the disk but I cannot write to it from other machines, due to no access rights. I have tried to give "Everyone" full rights on that disk, but it doesn't work. What else do I need to configure?

I am in Texas right now, and I need to access my computer in Japan. I can successfully build a VPN connection to my computer in Japan, but I cannot see any of the shared drives on it. How do I access my drives? ShoNuff
