I'm trying to secure a Remote Desktop Connection. The host is running xp pro and is behind a router. I changed the listening port and i use very strong passwords. Any tips on something else that I could do? Maybe use a VPN? but I dont know how that works.

I get an error "Remote assistance failed. Please try again" when clicking on an invitation. There are a lot of postings regarding this error, but the only solution I have seen so far, was a guy who reinstalled SP2 by downloading the entire SP from Microsoft. This solved

I've only tried this once, however there is still a problem. When I opened Winodws Messenger to try to remote help someone, all I got was their logon screen, and then the computer froze.

I have been using RDP to access my work computer when working from home for years without any problem. I just got a new pc for work and am having a wierd issue. I can use RDP on the new pc only after I have logged into the new pc locally.
