is there a way that if i am accessing a windows xp pc remotely using remote desktop, then nobody else should be able to take control of it remotely, unless I leave the control of PC?

BlankOK I have a laptop with XP Home and a desktop with XP Pro connected to a wireless router (Lynksys) I can print from the laptop through the router to the printer connected to the desktop, but I cannot get to the desktop shared folders from the laptop.

When I run my RDC session over VPN and try copying over a folder from the Host to my Local PC it takes a very long time... 3+hours for 400mb. For now, I just want to reduce the amount of data that I need to copy from the Host to my Local PC.

I find it hard to believe that not one other person is having the same issue. I connect to my work pc (which is running XP Pro) from my home pc running XP Home via a VPN connection. No matter what I do or try, my connection is slow and gets slower the longer I remain connected ...

I amgetting the message 'REMOTE ASSISTANCE CONNECTION COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED BECAUSE THE REMOTE HOST NAME COULD NOT BE RESOLVED. PLEASE TRY AGAIN.' The RA invite was sent using thehelp & support wizard. Any clues or advice?
