I am using Windows XP Pro SP2.
When I open RDC it hangs right at the login screen. Only half of the login
box appears and there is no place to type the login name or password.
Eventually it times out and closes.

specific port or is it random?  If it is random is there any way at all to
make it use a specific port?

I went to use Remote desktop and I have lost it or one of my kids erased it.  
I've tried to redownload it and it states "already installed" but it's not,
it's not in the accessories commications tab, nothing, any ideas of how to
get it back?

I recently installed the Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 for Windows XP.  I
like it for the most part but I have one complaint.  I launch the RDC,
select my server and click Connect.  The authentication dialog box pops up

I'm trying to setup a VPN connection in Windows XP, i have followed
all instructions and a connection is made. When the connection is made
the dialog says "Checking username and password." and then after some
