I am running XP on this machine, but i have a computer downstairs running 2000. i lately have been exploiting the CMD commands, but i still cannot remote shutdown the computer. it tells me "access is denied". any reason why? any way to fix?

Is it possible to establish a remote desktop connection from windows 2000 professional to windows xp professional, ie, 2000 is the host & xp is the client. I know the other way round works. But i couldn't find any info on this way through web search.

I enable remote desktop one one computer (runs XP Professional) and successfully log onto that computer from another computer via LAN. But I cannot see the task bar at the bottom for me to click the "Start" button. How do I make it appear on my remote desktop?

I am trying to remotely help my Dad with his PC. In the past when he was on dialup I was able to connect to his PC by going to Start->Help and support->Offer Remote Assistance. In the ORA window I would enter my Dad's current IP address, he would accept my offer and I was in.
