I have a simple remote desktop setup consisting of a remote computer running XP Professional and a local computer (laptop) running XP Home Edition. When connected I can shut down the remote computer from the local computer (using Ctrl-Alt-End).

I'd been using RDC for ages, inputting the target PC's IP address, rather than using a VPN. Now, all of a sudden, whenever I click "Connect", the standard Windows XP error reporting box (Remote Desktop Connection has encountered a problem and needs to close) appears. WHY!?

In Start=>Control Panel=>Network Connections=>Network Setup Wizard=>New Connection Wizard=>Next=>Connect to the network at my workplace/Next, both options are greyed out. I would like to setup a PPTP VPN but get stuck here. Any ideas?
