When I bought my HP, the XP home is pre-installed, and as
I guess the automatically log on a user is activated so I
do not have to type my password or choose any user name
while starting, windows automatically used to start when I

In a year and a half since I have been using XP, I have
been using the Internet connection firewall and a Network
Everywhere router from Linksys for protection.

Windows registry was corrupted due to a virus, PC became

Good evening...
I've taken the recommended step of NOT using the "Administrator" account
to log in to my Windows XP Pro laptop.  Instead I created an account for
myself in the Users group for normal, day-to-day use.  But when I look at

I can't uncheck the "write-protection" box in any of my
subfolders to c:\. They keep coming back. The whole drive
is write-protected. How can I change that?
