when is service pack 2 going to be released because quite frankly installing literally 50+ patches etc (postsp1) is ridiculous and wastes my time.

I just got a new computer with XP edition and it is imossible to go to the Windows Updates, I receive error message 0x800A138F. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?

I understand there is a patch for XP home to cure the most recently identified problems. Can anyone tell me where to find it? Also, does XP not have a scan disk option? I have looked but cannot find.
