After a great deal of frustration, i finally was able to
reinstall windows xp on my computer (which had crashed)
by using the cd's given to me when i bought the
computer.  i had a great deal of difficulty in getting

Anyone one with a solution to sudden and unpredictable
shutting down of windows.  As well as apparent
hibernation even though hibernation is off and serious
errors causing windows to close to prevent damage.

I used to see this padlock on Windows Me but, I am now
using XP, and it doesn't appear on a site that is secure.

I have Windows XP and when I check for Windows Updates it says I need Service Pack 1.
However, when I try to load it it says that  
"A connection with the server could not be established."
