One of my kids iniatiated the Power up password and does
not remember what the password is. Is there anyway to
disable this? Safe mode perhaps? I cannot get past it to
the main windows screen. Thanks

Does anyone know how to stop this failure audit event
being recorded. Its happening on a couple of my clients
now and with enforced 90 day log retention I need to keep
increasing the log size, I'm not happy with this and want

I work for the Salavation Army and we were given a
computer with xp home edition and when we boot, it has a
password at login screen for a user. We do not want to
reformat how can we get around this to get into windows.

i apologize if this is a poor place to post this, but I'm
getting desperate. i recently picked up a "virus" that
Macafee and Norton do NOT detect. They say I'm fine. Every

I receive about 40 e-mails a day with Microsoft latest patches attached most
are about 156kb in size. I don't need any of these as I use auto update via
Windows xp the question is how do I stop them coming.

Users group which by default doesn't allow ActiveX controls to be installed.
how do you over come this?? how do i allow standard user to run activex

A friend of my father's gave me a computer with a problem

When trying to run programs, Windows would claim that the

When I try to install updates from windowsupdate web site,
I get the license window.
Top part used to contains list of updates, but it is empty
now, and the Accept button is disabled all the time.

I am having a major problem with this pop up - it tries to connect to the
above site, every time I open IE6. It then uses 100% system resources until
I close it down, which I have to do via Task manager.

Dell sent me a clean machine that didn't have all of MS's
intrusion stuff on it. Unfortunately, I accidently loaded
some stuff - I have no idea what - and MS's servers keep
